About Original Watercolors Studio

In 1993, Karyn Hume combined her studio with gallery space; creating Original Watercolors Studio/Gallery. The Marriage of the artist's studio and a retail gallery brings art patrons into the studio giving them a chance to experience art in progress. This combination of studio/gallery helps to eliminate the high gallery mark-up. The Gallery features original watercolors, limited edition prints, and watercolor instruction.

The newly renovated Opera House became the new home of Original Watercolors in November of 1996. Built in 1906 by E. R. Conner and registered in the National Register Of Historic Places as the "Conner Building". The first floor was devoted to stores and the opera house was located on the second floor. Today it has been totally renovated and offers the charm and beauty that otherwise would have been forgotten. The studio/gallery opens to a beautiful garden in the rear of the building creating a unique atmosphere and the perfect setting for Karyn's floral and architectural paintings.

A painting can be created for you or as a unique gift for someone special. Often a particular color or size painting is desired, but unavailable. Commissioned artwork can be the answer. Some favorite themes used to create a personalized painting include your favorite flowers, gardens, or the front door of your home. Custom framing is also available for your commissioned painting or any artwork you purchase.

Watercolor Classes

Classes are held at my studio on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00 and Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 or Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00. Classes run in four week sessions and students may continue after the four week session. The cost for a four week session is $50.00 payable on or before the first class. Missed classes are not refunded, however classes canceled due to weather are added to the session.

Classes will be geared to the beginning to intermediate student. Basic knowledge of supplies and techniques is necessary for a good painting. Areas students need extra work in are taken into consideration after the "Basics" have been covered. Students will learn:

Thank you for your interest in classes and feel free to call the studio for more information or to sign up.
